Every season or every few months we crave new things, new outfits. It’s a natural behaviour of the fashion girl. Always seeking a new idea, something to be inspired by.

But that comes with a few associated problems: serious damage to our beautiful planet, and to our beautiful pockets. So how to make things better?

Let’s have a fashion party! I said, one where everybody wins.

The idea is simple. Our wardrobes are already filled up with beautiful goodies, but after a few wears, we grow tired of them. Too much social footage means our fashion creations have been seen too often. They then get put away in the closet, where they won’t come out for a good few months.

My rule of thumb is: if you haven’t worn it for over 6 months, then it needs to go. Give those beautiful items the chance to live a better life, in somebody else’s closet! And that is the premise of your event. Invite your closest friends, and their closest friends, to a fashion gathering where everybody brings their precious items for an exchange or a sale.

We hosted our very first Fashion Gathering last December, prior to the Christmas holidays, and it brought so much joy. Everybody brought a few pieces from their closet, and they were all of incredible taste and quality. I will never forget the face of one of my friends when skimming through one of the clothing rails she found a YSL trench coat for 100£, she was speechless and so happy to have found that gem before anybody else. Needless to say, it was an instant buy.

And it was precisely for moments like that, for the laughter, for the actual connection through something we love and enjoy, that I decided I would do this on a regular basis.

An opportunity to meet likeminded people, and go home with a fabulous new item. Nothing brand new with a tag, but something rather special, repurposed. Something that will remind you a gathering, and make you feel special every time you wear it as a result. You can’t find that in a store, it’s only yours.
